Ingredients
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 2 celery ribs, chopped
- ½ cup butter (1 stick)
- 14 ounces chicken broth (or 1 can)
- 1/3 cup minced fresh parsley
- 2 tsp. rubbed sage
- 1 tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp poultry seasoning*
- About 12 cups of cubed sourdough bread (that’s been dried out)
Directions
- Cut or tear the sourdough bread into cubes, put it on trays, and let it dry out for 2-3 days before making this recipe.
- In a large pan, sauté the onions and celery in butter until tender.
- Add the broth and seasoning. Mix the pan mixture well.
- Get a large bowl and place the bread cubes in it. Add the pan mixture and toss to coat. (Add warm water if needed to reach the desired moistness.)
- Stuff the turkey and cook it.
** If you don’t have poultry seasoning, you can make it by combining:
- 3 tablespoons ground sage
- 2 tablespoons dried thyme
- 2 tablespoons dried rosemary
- 1 tablespoon dried marjoram
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Note if there is extra stuffing, bake it in a pan.
