We live in a time where many fear the future and hope is a passing prospect. Daily news alerts us to a country that is frustrated, angry, stretched, broken, and divided on social, spiritual, and economic issues. We continue to learn that our current government leaders have intentionally steered our country in a direction away from what its Founding Father’s intended and moved us into deep moral decline. The mainstream media is no longer a source of truth but instead broadcasts a filtered version of the truth, expressing distortions siding squarely with the far liberal political agenda. It’s difficult to discern the truth strained through the lens of the liberal media and liberal bloggers. Now we are forced to fact check everything we read and hear, and even the fact checkers are liberals.
I can feel the temperature of America rising, in the hallways, at the store, in social media, everywhere I turn. The American people are fed up and tired of feeling ignored and deceived. Congress has lost the trust of the very people who voted them into office. Our leaders have become wealthy in their powerful positions and have intentionally avoided corrective action. People are frustrated with so many things. We are disillusioned and disappointed, feeling helpless to solve the enormity of problems and the growing depravity that lies before us.
God has been slow to anger and patient beyond reason with a people who have turned their back on Him, a people who rarely seek His face, a people who have forgotten His Holy Word, or even how to pray. They have forgotten that it was God who created the heavens and the earth; He gave them life and put breath in their bodies. How much longer will He tolerate watching us worship and adore everything but Him? When will the time come when God disciplines a nation of self-righteous, materialistic, self-centered, arrogant, proud, lying, deceitful, and murderous people? We are a nation that appears to be imploding …but I see a glimmer of hope for our country.
As a Christian, you are a citizen of two worlds. On the one hand, we belong to the kingdom of heaven with all of the rights and privileges enjoyed by being a child of God. On the other hand, we are to be salt and light in this world. Soon we face yet another Presidential election. Many will back a candidate or party based on what they perceive in the liberal news.
You must consider that no one party or candidate is entirely good or entirely bad. We live in a fallen world and there will always be sinful leaders at all levels of government. When I hear people say, “Well, I won’t vote because I can’t support either person.” Of course, you should vote, even if your choices are limited! God does not want Christians to sit idly in a perpetual state of apathy as others vote for our next President. Look where indifference has gotten us so far; Barack Obama has done irreversible damage to our country and has blatantly pushed God out of every decision.
This year we are voting between two candidates, Donald Trump, and Hillary Clinton. Both have serious character flaws and moral failures in their lives. It may seem a daunting task to choose between two evils. If you are a Christian, please consider the following:
- Do not vote for anyone who supports the killing of babies. Hillary is most radical pro- abortion candidate we’ve had; she stands with those who shed innocent blood. Hillary smiles and applauds Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the US as well as government funding for it (your money) to the tune of $500 billion a year. Over 60 million babies have been killed since Roe v. Wade, approximately one million babies a year. God does not support the killing of anyone; this is wrong and evil. How can a woman who says she supports children also be in support of killing them?
- Do not vote for anyone who supports sexual perversion. Hillary supports this lifestyle of choice and it is certainly not God’s design nor in alignment with His Word.
- Do not vote for someone who is bent on appointing men and women of immoral character for Supreme Court justice. These are lifetime positions and will have serious ramifications for America. The Supreme Court rules on issues of religious freedom, marriage, abortion, and much more. Their decisions will impact this country for our lifetime and the lifetime of our children and grandchildren. Hillary has said she will fill those positions with extremely liberal judges who support abortion and same sex marriage.
- Do not vote for someone who is tolerant of everything but not tolerant of Christianity. Religious liberty is what our nation was founded on. The persecution of Christians in our own country has been increasing during Obama’s reign and it must stop.
- Do not vote for someone who is against Israel. We know God’s stance on nations who oppose Israel.
And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse”. Gen. 12:3
We all know that Hillary is a perpetual liar and has egregiously violated ethical walls and government laws and gotten away with them. What seems to stand out for Americans is her letting good men die in Benghazi, hiding email conversations on a private server, receiving questionable donations from unfriendly foreign countries to the Clinton Foundation (pay for play), covering up her husband’s sexual perversion and affairs (Bill Clinton), and the list goes on.
We all know that Trump has always been impulsive, obnoxious, speaking with no filter, unpredictable, unpolished, proud, vulgar and offensive. We have known this for a long time, so nothing should surprise or shock you. On the upside, Trump is an accomplished businessman. It is hard to say what the election results will hold for us – who will win.
We do not know the mind of God; He raises up leaders and brings them down. But know this, God can also change the heart of a king. So pray for a heart change of our candidates as we seek to return to the days of respecting a noble leader.
Whichever wins, take heart, don’t be discouraged, be of good cheer for He has overcome the world. Be reminded that it is possible God may set in place an unlikely King for such a time as this.
“He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.” Daniel 2:21
Vote in every election, pray for wisdom and seek truth. Be reminded that although people vote, God is ultimately in control. Have faith my friend.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 12:1.
